Ryan is one of Australia’s most competitive Duathletes. With the ambition to race longer distance overseas,   DTR is right behind the goals and aspirations of Ryan.

Please find below some info on Ryan:

Coming from a running background, Ryan made the transition into Duathlon in 04′, representing Australia in an Age group team in 05′. 07′ was a break though year for him, having represented Australia as part of the Elite Men’s Duathlon team in Hungary and then racing both Duathlon and road running overseas. Last year he became the overall men’s Victorian Duathlon Series winner. However, Ryan has decided this year to take a step up to long course duathlon racing, with his sights set on Powerman Malaysia at the end of the year, whilst still competing in road and cross country running races. He recently had a second place in a 10km road race in Tokyo, Japan.

DTR Sports Management’s Matt Docking has put a solid performance together in the first round of the Trainee Championship. Please find a report below.

Docking got off to a strong start on his home course with Tocumwal Head Professional Michael MacGregor as his caddie. Docking who commenced his round on the back nine took bogey on the par 3 10th hole but then steadied with three consecutive pars. Docking got to one under after taking eagle on the par 5 14th hole then further birdies the 8th & 9th holes to turn at three under par. One birdie and seven pars over the front nine had Docking sign for a 68.

Please stay posted for further updates on the progress.

G’day everyone,

I’ve had a pretty good couple of weeks since the last race in Arbizu, mostly just training, eating, sleeping and relaxing! This last weekend saw Raf and I make the trip to Bilbao for the fifth edition of the Bilbao Duathlon. I got to spend a couple of days there with my Mum and her friend Leys, who’d made the trip from the UK for the race and to come back to Gernika for a weeks holiday. Before the race we got to explore the city walking through the old town and making a trip to the world renowned Guggenheim Museum, and of coarse sampling of the city’s finest tapas!

The race itself was held over the sprint distance of 5km run/20km ride/2.5km run, and in keeping in tradition with most races in the Basque country, the bike was of coarse hilly to say the least. This years race had reached capacity some weeks before the event and had attracted a strong international field along with the usual tough contenders from Spain.

The pace in the first run was on from the gun, giving us little time to take in our surroundings on the riverbank.  Halfway through and I was really starting to feel the effects of going out so hard. As we were running back past the Guggenheim amongst the throngs of tourists I started to lose touch with the leaders Galinier and Capoferi from France and Raf. I entered transition some with 2 Spaniards some 18secs down on the 3 in front.

As I said earlier the bike was tough, basically we climbed out of transition for 10km, turned around and came back down! I felt I was riding quite well although I couldn’t manage to keep up with one of the Spaniards who attacked the moment we reached the steep section of the climb. I entered transition this time in a group of 6-8, with the two Frenchman out of reach after a very strong ride and the Spaniard Garcia just 10secs up the road.

With a slick transition I managed to get the jump on my group and was in 4th place with my eyes firmly set on Garcia in 3rd. Things weren’t all going my way though and before the turn around Raf and some others had come back past me and I was 7th or 8th and really struggling to keep them in reach. The run back to the finish had me going through some real highs and lows, at times I felt I could get going again and perhaps sneak onto the podium while at others I felt I’d be lucky to hold onto a top 10 with a big group not far behind. As it turned out I nearly got in a battle for third but wasn’t quite strong enough at the end and Raf managed to out sprint us all to grab 3rd with me taking 5th.

Although not entirely satisfied with the run off the bike, still happy with a solid race of fast running and a tough bike and can hopefully get it all together for the European Champs in Budapest on the 23rd May.
